Rooted and
Grown in Florida

Experience

Although our practice encompasses many areas, our reputation is grounded in the defense of Workers’ Compensation cases for employers, insurance carriers and claims-handling entities.

We are proud to have — by far — the state’s deepest bench of Florida Bar Board Certified specialists in Workers’ Compensation, as well as a former Judge of Compensation Claims on our team.

Fourteen of our 27 attorneys have earned board certification, which involves rigorous standards for experience, continuing education, peer evaluation and a written examination. Fewer than 200 of the more than 7,000 eligible attorneys in Florida can say the same.

Bill Rogner, named to the Workers’ Compensation Institute Hall of Fame in 2018, is one of just three Florida attorneys to be Board Certified in both Appellate Practice and Workers’ Compensation.

Who We Represent

Clients

We are proud of our many long-term client relationships — some that have been with us since we opened our doors in 1992. We represent entities with tens of thousands of Florida employees, from municipal clients such as school boards, cities and the State of Florida, to large and small retail chains, hotels, hospitals, airlines, trucking companies, insurers and professional employer organizations (PEOs).

While our clients’ industries and employees are diverse, they all share a common need for knowledgeable, thorough and results-driven legal representation.
HR Law listens to our clients’ needs and delivers the results they require. It is these relationships and our dedication to the highest standards that have grown our firm from two attorneys in Orlando in 1992 to 27 attorneys serving the entire state through offices in Orlando, Boca Raton, Fort Myers, Fort Pierce, Tallahassee, Jacksonville and Tampa / St. Pete.

What We Do

Practice Areas

Workers' Compensation

Since day one, our primary focus has been defending employer and carrier interests in Workers’ Compensation matters. The firm has 14 attorneys who are board certified by the Florida Bar as specialists in this area, as well as a 12-year Judge of Compensation Claims. Fewer than seven percent of Florida attorneys attain Board Certification, and HR Law is proud to have the deepest bench in the state.

Appellate Practice

Our attorneys have handled 500+ appellate matters before the First District Court of Appeal, the Florida Supreme Court and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeal in Atlanta. Our experience in appellate matters has resulted in many landmark decisions in the area of Workers’ Compensation.

Employment Law

Many times, in the context of a Workers’ Compensation claim, separate causes of action may be asserted against employers under theories of retaliation, wrongful termination or other claims, and we aggressively represent our clients in those matters.

Subrogation and Liability Defense

HR Law is well versed in the nuances of lien law and subrogation. We are experienced in aggressively pursuing maximum lien recovery and all other subrogation rights. We are also proficient in handling coverage “B” claims on an hourly or contingency fee basis. Our attorneys counsel clients on understanding their rights and obligations under the insurance contract and extra-contractual liability. We represent insurance companies, individuals, and corporations in all types of coverage disputes in addition to defending insurers in first-party claims and prosecuting breach of contract and declaratory judgment actions.
